Welcome to the site! Here is a quick introduction to our goals and design. I have been looking for a dedicated space to track all of my baseball research, while also emulating the community style of Baseball Think Factory — which utilized a powerful news aggregator much like the one we have built here.
We will present curated daily articles, and we invite you to create an account and join the discussion. Over time, I will be introducing brand-new situational metrics for us to mull over, and we hope to welcome other researchers to come by and publish their own findings.
Our Proprietary Metrics
Runs Credited — fractional run accounting for every R and RBI
Run Added and Total Run Added — plate-appearance efficiency
Base Running Added and Stolen-Base Win Probability Added
Data Sources
Historical statistics are drawn from the Sean Lahman Baseball Database (1871–present) and play-by-play event data from Retrosheet (1910–present). Proprietary metrics are computed on top of these sources using the Zite engine.
